Q&A with Anna P

Anna P sells handmade reversible headbands on Portobello Market. Anna tells us more about them.

Tell us about your business - what do you sell, when did you start, how long have you been trading at Portobello market?

I started trading in 2018 but had traded at many other events and markets for a few years. My background was a womenswear designer before I retrained in accessories. I really wanted to make a product from start to finish so I set up my business Anna P in 2014 making headbands in my dining room out of the horde of vintage fabrics I had collected.

Who do you admire in your industry?

I admire anyone who makes a living from creativity.

Describe how you have adapted to continue trading during the COVID-19 pandemic. What are some of the challenges you have faced during this time

I have started an Etsy shop annapheadbands.etsy.com

And also worked on my Instagram @annapheadbands  and now I make facemasks to match my headbands.

What are your  hopes or aspirations for when things return to normal?

The hardest thing has been the lack of real contact with my customers.

What is something that stands out about Portobello Market to you?

Super friendly traders and a great atmosphere. I just want to get back to a busy bustling fun market.

Where would you recommend a friend to go and eat and drink in Portobello?

Daytime-buns from home is amazing.

Evening-Lisa’s Pizzeria.
